Should I Hire A wedding planner?

I thought it would be good to touch on a popular topic when it comes to being newly engaged. One of the biggest questions frequently asked by couples is, “Do I need a wedding planner?”

Here in the UK, Planners and Stylists still don’t tend to make a couples ‘priority list’ initially and only seem to come on board once couples realise that the pressures of planning of wedding are just too much to manage alone. But by this point, they’re deep into the planning journey and unwanted stress has already started to mount, causing huge amounts of anxiety.

Planning a wedding can sometimes be an 18 month long process; One which can offer incredible and exciting moments but also one which can be terribly time-consuming and overwhelming. Having a Wedding Planner involved from the outset ensures that there is no risk of what should be a memorable and special process, and not one tarnished by the weight of such an important occasion.

are planners really worth the investment?

My answer to this is simply, yes. For me, there is nothing more important than keeping a one-in- a lifetime moment as smooth and enjoyable as it can possible be. The knowledge, understanding, care and attention Planners bring are invaluable to what is essentially, the most important day of your life.

They are there to support you in whatever way you need them to. First and foremost, they are your number one go-to’s for anything wedding related and the person you rely on to take care of the not so fun bits when planning a wedding. They are also confidants and can even provide you with a shoulder to lean on. Not only do they save you a considerable amount of time, stress and in some cases, money. They work tirelessly to provide you with a wedding that has been meticulously planned and considered, all the way down to the smallest of details. They are experts in their field and offer a wealth of knowledge when it comes to planning the logistics behind such an important event. They also come with an army of trusted suppliers, vendors and creatives behind them and are the best people to advise exactly who is best suited to your wedding and what they bring to the table in order to pull off the occasion you so desire.

How do you know what planner is right for you?

Finding the right Planner doesn’t have to be hard or overwhelming. It’s important that you invest the time choosing someone that you feel completely comfortable with and someone you know you’re going to trust throughout the entire process. You also don’t necessarily have to choose someone located in the same area as your wedding, you’ll find that most suppliers and vendors are happy to travel. This then enables you to look further afield in order to find the right person for the job.

Once you’ve narrowed down your options, don’t be afraid to reach out and arrange an in-depth telephone call, video chat or even an in-person consultation. This way you’ll get a much better idea of how that particular Planner comes across and how you get along with them on a personal level. Take this opportunity to ask as many questions as possible and find out what each Planner can offer you. It’s also worthwhile taking a look at their social media pages as this is where you’ll most likely get a really good sense as to who they are as people and what their personalities are like. Do you also relate to their work and find yourself drawn to their individual style?

I need some help but I don’t have the budget?

Having a Planner involved for the entire process can be a large investment. Luckily, for those of you who need a little help and guidance but may not be in a position to take on a Planner for Full Wedding Planning, Design & Styling, many offer a variety of services and packages that can be tailored for various needs.

A great back-up option is to hire a Planner for the Day Of Coordination. This way you get the support you need for the day itself, as well as full assistance in the lead up to the wedding. If you think you have the planning side of things under control but find yourself stuck when it comes to the overall look and feel, there are then services that offer Full Design & Styling which are there to provide you with guidance to creating a coherent aesthetic, along with assistance bringing it all together on the day.
